Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Murmly is a sleep sounds iOS application developed and maintained by an independent developer. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at hello@murmly.app.

2. Data Murmly collects directly

Murmly does not directly collect any of the following:

• Your name, email address, or any contact information
• Your precise location
• Your listening history or in-app behaviour
• Health or sleep data
• Any biometric data

We have no account system, no registration, and no login.

3. Data stored locally on your device

Murmly stores the following information exclusively on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults and SwiftData). This data never leaves your device and is never accessible to us:

• Your favourite sounds and saved mixes
• App preferences (timer settings, last played sound)
• Onboarding completion status
• Whether you have purchased the "Remove Ads" upgrade

4. Advertising (Google AdMob) — Free version only

The free version of Murmly displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob automatically collects certain data to operate, regardless of your ATT choice:

• IP address (used to derive approximate country/region)
• Device type, model and operating system version
• Ad interactions (impressions, clicks)
• App diagnostic data (performance, crash reports)

Additionally, when you first open Murmly, iOS will ask for your permission to track you across apps and websites (ATT prompt). Your choice determines what additional data AdMob can access:

• Allow tracking: AdMob may also collect your advertising identifier (IDFA) to serve personalised ads based on your interests across apps and websites
• Deny tracking: AdMob serves non-personalised ads only. Your IDFA is not accessed

You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Murmly.

Google may use the collected data in accordance with their own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

If you purchase the "Remove Ads" upgrade, the AdMob SDK is fully disabled and none of the above data is collected.

5. In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Murmly never sees or stores your payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies to all purchase transactions: apple.com/legal/privacy

6. Audio files

Some sound files are downloaded from our content delivery network (CloudFront/AWS) when you first access them. This download is an anonymous HTTP request — no user identifier, account, or personal data is sent. Standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp) may be retained by AWS for up to 30 days for infrastructure security purposes only.

7. Children's privacy

Murmly is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we collect no personal data from any user, this requirement is met by design.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• The right to access any personal data we hold about you
• The right to request deletion of your data
• The right to object to processing
• The right to data portability

Since Murmly does not collect or store any personal data on our servers, there is no data for us to provide, delete, or transfer. All data is local to your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of Murmly after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
